Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How stable is a BeachRay?

    ?

BeachRay boats are extremely stable. It is truly one of the amazing things about our boats. Numerous people can stand on one side of our boats without so much as dipping their toes in the water.
  2. Is it expensive to maintain a BeachRay?

    ?

No. We specifically designed our boats to be easy to maintain with easily removable and replaceable parts. This is a primary reason that BeachRay boats can be so relaxing and allow you to enjoy your day on the water. The likelihood that you will incur some expensive repair that will ruin your day (or your boating season) have been minimized to almost zero.
  3. Are BeachRay boats Coast Guard approved?

    ?

Yes, BeachRay Boats meet or exceed all USCG, ABYC and NMMA regulations.
  4. Are BeachRay boats hard to drive?

    ?

No. Simplicity is the key here. With a stick between the seats to turn left or right and a throttle on the right side to go forward or reverse, operating a BeachRay is very easy to get the hang of. This, combined with the easy maintenance, low fuel consumption and stability is what lets you get out there and truly enjoy your day on the water.
  5. How many people can fit on a BeachRay?

    ?

BeachRay boats are ultimately meant for two people. Two additional people can also sit atop the coolers comfortably. We have had as many as 8 people on the deck while drifting, anchored, relaxing and swimming in the coves and anchorages.
  6. How much Weight can a BeachRay hold?

    ?

BeachRay boats can technically support over 2,000 pounds across the surface of its deck.
  7. Will I get wet on a BeachRay?

    ?

You sure can! However, you do not have to. While we built the BeachRay to be a “bathing suit boat”, we here at BeachRay are in our “normal” cloths most of the time. This is all a function of how you are planning to use your boat on a particular outing. If you are heading out for a few hours to cruise your protected harbor and watering holes, there is really no concern. If you’re going out for a long day on the sandbar, you’ll likely have your bathing suit on anyway!
  8. What depth of water can I use my BeachRay in?

    ?

With the engine down, BeachRay boats can operate in just over 12 inches of water.
  9. What size waves can a BeachRay handle?

    ?

Our BeachRay boats are ultimately designed for protected waterways such as rivers, lakes, coves, harbors and the intra-coastal waterway. However, we have frequently been out in our local bay in 2-4 foot seas with additional large boat wakes (at top speed) without issue. The key is taking the waves and wakes on the beam (the side of the boat) rather than directly into them as with many other boat models.
  10. What are the dimensions/size of a BeachRay?

    ?

BeachRay boats are 13 feet 10 inches long, 6 feet 6 inches wide and 13 inches deep (total depth top deck to hull bottom).
  11. How much does a BeachRay weigh?

    ?

A BeachRay hull and deck weighs 316 pounds and approximately 500 pounds depending on engine size and accessories.
  12. What size engine can I install on my BeachRay?

    ?

BeachRay boats have been engineered to carry up to a 40hp engine. However, the largest engine that we provide is a 25hp.
  13. Can I install my own engine on my BeachRay?

    ?

Yes, we can sell you a basic hull or a basic package boat without an engine that will conform to your engines specifications.
  14. How much gas does a BeachRay use?

    ?

At low speeds a BeachRay boat will sip gas and you will find you can go many days on the six gallon tank. At higher speeds, a BeachRay will burn about 1 ½ gallons per hour.
  15. Can I put an electric motor on my BeachRay?

    ?

Yes, BeachRay boats can be fitted with outboard electric motors such as the Torqueedo and the gas tank replaced with a battery bank. Be advised, however, that electric motors and battery banks can be more expensive and have a shorter range than a comparable outboard.
  16. What kind of trailer do I need for my BeachRay?

    ?

Because of their relatively small size and weight, trailers for our BeachRay boats are straightforward and not excessive in price. A basic trailer designed specifically for our BeachRay boats is approximately $900 and some customizations can be added to these as well.
  17. Is there a dealer near me where I can purchase a BeachRay?

    ?

We are always looking to expand our dealer network and approved dealers will be added to our page. In order to protect our dealers, if there is a dealer near you any purchases will ultimately be finalized through that dealer.
  18. How much will it cost to ship my BeachRay?

    ?

There are many factors that affect shipping costs, the largest being distance and the number of boats to be shipped. As a rough guide it is approximately $1,200 to ship one BeachRay boat and trailer to Florida from our facility in Rhode Island. We will be offering various shipping credits as we expand our dealer network.
  19. Is there a warranty that comes with my BeachRay purchase?

    ?

Yes. BeachRay boat hull and decks come with a 5 year warranty as well as a one year warranty against our installed parts and accessories. Engine warranties are dealt with through the engine manufacturer.
  20. Do I need a truck to tow my BeachRay?

    ?

No. BeachRay boats can be towed with just about any car with a hitch, though one should check their boat launch ramp as some can be steep and/or slippery.
